I actually can’t remember the last time I got sick and had a cold get in my way, so much so, that it actually stopped me from following through with my day as planned. Last week went to shit. I had so many things left undone and the only positive thing left to do is find a takeaway and learn a few lessons from it all.

So what are the lessons?

1.     Slow Down

The biggest thing I have realized over the past few months is that I can’t do it all. I want to, but I can’t. I end up with nineteen things half-finished and half assed, which is not productive and not fulfilling. You can’t do everything and have everything too. You have to look at the bigger picture.

2.     Take Care of Yourself

I somewhat “let myself go” in the sense that I have been neglecting my high standard of living lately. I’ve slipped with my clean eating and went off my meal plan, had a few one too many social nights out with too much alcohol, and as a result not enough sleep. I realized my water intake was way down as well. If you’re going to be go go go, you have to take care of the body that will get you there.

3.     Find Balance

The holidays are quickly approaching. Que the dinners, holiday parties, shopping and overall stress of being ready for Christmas. It’s important to find the balance between all of the extras on the to do list. Don’t forget about number one. Take a bath. Relax. Even if it’s only for 20 minutes. Find the balance in your life.

4.     Focus

This connects well with slowing down. Finding your focus and being present with the task at hand will allow for a more productive work day and social life. If you’re constantly checking your phone (Instagram) or emails you will never get any real work accomplished.

5.     ITS OKAY

This is probably my favourite and what I consider the most important lesson – It’s all okay. It’s okay that your house is a mess. It’s okay that you haven’t done laundry in days. It’s okay that you don’t feel your best. It’s okay to take a break. It’s okay to put something aside and enjoy a moment for yourself or watch your favourite show. It’s okay to feel tired and stressed out and like the world is caving in. It’s okay to make a mistake. IT’S OKAY.
